Thank you to everyone who came to see this year's Dinner Theater production of "Operation Angel." It was a HUGE success!

"Operation Angel" is a heart-warming, inspirational musical comedy that was performed by the high school youth of First English/Peace Lutheran Church. In this production, four teens learned how to have strength, courage, faith and how to be true to themselves. This was accomplished by comedic visits from each teens "angel." The cast and dancers put in countless hours of rehearsal to bring their "Operation Angel"  characters to life.

As with any production, the show would not happen without our technical crews. Sound and lights were headed up by Rob Pelko, Gary Konrad and some of our high school youth. Stage crew and props were also done by our youth. Costumes were donated by Kim Richards of Kostumes by Kim, Inc. All crews were overseen by the Production Manager, Rachel Abraham. Youth leader volunteers, Jeri Berger, Jody Koplitz and Wendy Potratz assisted with everything from decorating the house, providing support to the youth and director, helping serve dinner, to the cast party cleanup. "Operation Angel" was written and directed by Deb Ransbottom with Sherry Hitz as Assistant Director. Behind the scenes, handling all the details of every aspect of the Dinner Theater was First English Lutheran's Youth Director, Troy Taylor.

During "Angel" Friday and Saturday, close to 400 spaghetti dinners were served. Salads, bread and desserts complimented the meal. This delicious Italian cuisine was prepared by Millie Kussman and her kitchen crew. Dinner was served by the 7th, 8th, & 9th grade Confirmation candidates and "Operation Angel" dancers. Served on "Angel" Sunday was an abundance of baked goodies donated by the parents of the cast, crew, wait staff and generous parishioners.

Again, we would like to thank everyone who came to see "Operation Angel." Your generous support is greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Thrivent for Lutherans for their $1600 donation. All proceeds of this production benefit the 2009 Mission Trip and other youth events. DVDs of "Operation Angel" will be available soon for a donation.  For more information, call Troy Taylor at the parish office (920-231-9890).

The Nightmare is a dramatic presentation of the leading killers of adolescents (drinking and driving, drugs, gang violence, and suicide). This event is located in Marshfield, Wi during the month of October. Attendees are guided through a maze of rooms which depict these horrific events. Toward the end of the Nightmare drama, groups are escorted through three rooms that depict the Passion of Christ. The final room contains a video that explains to the attendees what they experienced as they walked through the 21-minute maze. The goal is to let them know that there is a God who loves them. What is the purpose of Nightmare? The Nightmare is about showing the reality of making poor choices in life. The purpose is not to scare people, but to show them the very real consequences of alcohol, drugs, violence, and suicide. The goal is to show people that there is a God, and He sent His son (Jesus) to die for them, to save them from these kinds of choices.

This program is the annual high school winter retreat (grades 9-12) held at Imago Dei Village. This years event took place on January 18-20 and was hosted by Crossways Camping Ministries. Six girls, one boy from FELC and two girls and one boy from Peace attended, along with Rachel Abraham and Troy Taylor as the adult chaperones. The theme was Matthew 6:19-24 "Treasures in Heaven". The youth had a fun filled weekend of fellowship and biblical times in negative 5 degree tempature. Other youth groups that attended were from Our Saviors in Oshkosh, St Paul in Neenah and Waterloo. Youth found this weekend to be a well needed break from school exams and a nice time to build new friendships and refresh their Faith while seeing old friends.

Thirty-two individuals embarked on a journey to Ozark Mountains, Arkansas (approximately 4.5 hours west of Memphis, Tennessee) July 12-19, 2008. First English and Peace conducted a week long mission trip focusing their time and efforts on two primary areas of ministry: elementary children and home improvement. Each person spent two days hosting a day camp for children at the Boy’s and Girl’s Club, which consisted of skits, games and a Bible lesson. Relational time was built between our high school youth and the children of Arkansas. Two days where spent on home improvements for the community. These improvements involved painting houses and deck staining.
